Issue/Introduction

The SSPI upgrade fails at the stage where the workload cluster upgrade attempts to upload content to the vSphere Content Library.

The following error is displayed:

An unexpected exception occurred: HTTPError: 500 Server Error: Internal Server Error for url:https://localhost:8080/sspi/platform/1/ova/create-template

To verify the issue-

When reviewing the SSPI diagnostics, the Storage health score under the SSPI Instance displays a value of zero. The following error description is shown:

  • Description: Failed to get Datastore summary with datastore name.
  • Error: Failed to find datastore 'XYZ' in Datacenter 'ABC'.

The issue is observed under:

Environment

SSP 5.0 to 5.1 upgrades

Cause

This issue occurs when the SSPI is upgraded from 5.0 to 5.1, and the datastore being used by 5.0 has undergone changes before the upgrade.

If the datastore’s name was modified in vCenter prior to initiating the SSPI upgrade, SSPI may fail to identify and retrieve datastore information, resulting in the reported error.

Resolution

  1. Log in to vCenter as a local administrator.

  2. Navigate to the Inventory section and review the list of datastores.

  3. Identify the datastore which is expected to be used by SSP.

  4. Validate the name of the datastore against the name displayed in the error message.

  5. If any discrepancies are found, correct the datastore name accordingly in vCenter.

  6. Once the datastore details are restored or updated, restart the SSPI upgrade process.
