Issue/Introduction

This article describes the steps to reconfigure the PNID.

Note: If vCenter Server High Availability (VCHA) is enabled, you must disable the vCenter Server HA setting before reconfiguring the PNID.

Resolution

To reset the PNID, follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to the vCenter Server Management Interface (VAMI) using your administrator SSO credentials.
  2. Select Network > Network Settings > Edit.
  3. Select NIC 0 (Management Network) and select Next.
  4. Select Hostname and DNS and enter the FQDN in Hostname.
  5. Enter the DNS server IP address in DNS Settings and select Next.
  6. Enter your SSO credentials and select Next.
  7. Check I have verified that I created a backup of vCenter Server and unregistered extensions before proceeding with network configuration and select Finish.
  8. Wait for the network reconfiguration to complete.
  9. When the Network Update Successful screen appears, select Close.
  10. Confirm the new hostname and IP address under Network.

However, if you are only changing the DNS server, the following tasks are not necessary.

  • Re-register all deployed plugins.
  • Regenerate all custom certificates.
  • If vCenter HA was enabled, reconfigure vCenter HA.
  • If Active Domain was enabled, reconfigure Active Domain.
  • If Hybrid Linked Mode was enabled, reconfigure Hybrid Link using Cloud vCenter Server.
