ESXi patching fails from ESXi 8.0.3-0.70.24677879 to ESXi 8.0.3-0.70.24674464 with Operation failed error.

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to patch ESXi an error occurs.  

Operation failed.
Could not obtain module order from esximage db : Error : The installation profile could not be validated due to the following errors: 
On platform esxio, Base Image version 8.0.3-8.78.24674464 does not match the base ESXi package version 8.0.3-8.70.24677879 in ImageProfile (Updated) DEL-ESXi_803.24674464-A86.  Use a depot instead of VIB URLs to perform ESXi patching.

 

Environment

ESXi 8.x

Cause

• ESXi 8.0.3-0.70.24677879 is the free version of 8.0 U3e and ESXi 8.0.3-0.70.24674464 is the normal version of 8.0 U3e. 
• The upgrade does a check and finds that they are the same version. 

Resolution

Upgrade with a later version of ESXi.
