Issue/Introduction

  • The affected NSX managers UI is  inaccessible. You may see a message similar to the following:

    Some appliance components are not functioning properly.
    Component health: MANAGER:DOWN, SEARCH:DOWN, UI:UP, NODE_MGMT:UP.
    Error code: 101

  • One of the NSX manager is showing HTTPS status as DOWN when running command get cluster status with group status as DEGRADED.

  • Below is the output obtained when checking cluster status via CLI :
    > get cluster status

Group Type: HTTPS
Group Status: DEGRADED

Members:
    UUID                                    FQDN              IP             STATUS

  • NSX Manager logs will show below logging :
    /var/log/syslog:

<timestamp>  ERROR http-nio-127.0.0.1-7440-exec-10550 HTTPSClient - SYSTEM [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-manager" errorCode="MP193072" level="ERROR" reqId="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" subcomp="manager" username="XXXXXXX"] out put of the API {  "httpStatus" : "BAD_REQUEST",  "error_code" : 60527,  "module_name" : "nsx-search",  "error_message" : "Search service is currently unavailable, please restart using 'restart service search' and resync using 'start search resync all' CLI commands on the NSX appliance."} with http status code 400 and uri is com.vmware.nsx.common.dashboard.widgets.UrlRequest

Cause

 search service is down on the affected manager.

Resolution

  • Start the Search Service on the affected manager.
    'restart service search' and resync using 'start search resync all' CLI commands on the NSX appliance.
