Issue/Introduction

  • The sync operation on the subscriber content library fails on the Azure VMware Solution(AVS) vCenter Server with the error : A general system error occurred: HTTP request error: cannot authenticate SSL certificate for host <publisher_vcenter_fqdn>.

  • The task fails with the following error in the AVS vCenter Server :

InternalServerError (com.vmware.vapi.std.errors.internal_server_error) =>

{messages = [LocalizableMessage (com.vmware.vapi.std.localizable_message) => {id = vapi.bindings.method.impl.unexpected,defaultMessage = Provider method implementation threw unexpected exception: com.vmware.vapi.std.errors.InternalServerError,args = [com.vmware.vapi.std.errors.InternalServerError],params = <null>,localized = <null>},
LocalizableMessage (com.vmware.vapi.std.localizable_message) => {id = com.vmware.vdcs.cls-main.http_request_error_peer_not_authenticated,defaultMessage = HTTP request error: cannot authenticate SSL certificate for host <publisher_vcenter_fqdn>,args = [<publisher_vcenter_fqdn>],params = <null>,localized = <null>}],
data = <null>,
errorType = INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR
}

Environment

Azure VMware Solution (AVS)

Cause

The Content Library synchronization failure is caused by a thumbprint mismatch between the publisher and subscriber vCenter instances.

The mismatch is caused by AVS vCenter having the incorrect/old certificate information for the VCSA.

Resolution

Engage Microsoft support, to refresh the certificate information on AVS vCenter Server.

Azure VMware Solution is a first-party Azure service, Microsoft encourages customers to work directly with their Microsoft support team. The solution is fully verified and supported by VMware, and Microsoft will collaborate seamlessly with VMware as needed to resolve any issues.
