Issue/Introduction

• Upgrade precheck following Upgrade VMware Aria Operations for Networks from Aria Suite LCM(Lifecycle Manager) fails with following errors:
  
  Disk space on / should be at least 12GB for upgrade. Current available space on / is ##GB in node #.#.#.#
  
  
  
  
  
• Recommendations in Aria Suite LCM suggests to remove unwanted files from root (/) directory of Aria Operations for Networks node to reclaim space:
  
  
  
  
• Running df -h command on VCF Operations for Networks node (after logging in via support user and the entering ub to switch to Ubuntu user) - reports the free space as 12 GB:
  
  
  
  
  
• This failure specifically occurs when transitioning from 6.14.1 to 6.14.2, as this version jump frequently triggers the 11GB vs 12GB false positive.

 

Environment

Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.18

Cause

This issue arises when the available space in the root partition (/) of Aria Operations for Networks shows in the output of the "df -h /" command under support > ub user, as 12 GB, but Aria Suite LCM reports that the free space is less than 12 GB.  (Example:  11 GB).

Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform the following actions:

1. SSH to Aria Operations for Networks node reported in the error and reclaim space on root directory (/) following KB/314387 .
   
   
   • NOTE:  manual cleanup of "Upgrade Bundles" may be insufficient if the false-positive 11GB vs 12GB error persists.
     
     
2. Upgrade pre-check from Aria Suite LCM (Lifecycle Manager) may continue to fail with same error.
   
   
   • Once you have confirmed by logging into the nodes via SSH or vSphere Virtual Machine console with support user, switching to ub user, and running the df -h / command that the free space on root (/) partition of Aria Operations for Networks is 12 GB, you can ignore the error and continue with the upgrade from Aria Suite LCM(Lifecycle Manager).
