No disk to select while installing ESXi 8.0 U3 on Dell PowerEdge Server with Perc H975i Storage controller

Issue/Introduction

• List to select the disk/volume is empty while installing the ESXi 8.0 U3 on a Dell PowerEdge R770 server.
• The issue is only observed if Perc H975i Storage controller is used for boot device.
• This server model is compatible with ESXi 8.x as per the Broadcom Compatibility Guide

Cause

As per Broadcom Compatibility Guide Perc H975i Storage controller is not compatible with ESXi 8.x, and it is compatible with ESX 9.0 and later.

Resolution

Engage Server Hardware support as it is an issue with the hardware component compatibility in the physical server.
