Issue/Introduction

DA installation not prompting for inputs

This is a reinstallation. I installed a different version, uninstalled it, and reinstalled with 24.3.13

I noticed when I ran with silent mode, activemq wont come up after installation.

I reinstalled it with the console mode, and realized that the installation did not prompt me for details .. it went straight to installation like this:

I tried a couple uninstallation and reinstallations but it's still not working. I have removed the /opt/IMDataAggregator dir, /var/.com.zerog.registry.xml, rebooted the server but it's still not working.

A new Data Aggregator (DA) installation run doesn't ask questions, it just runs acting like it's an upgrade.

Environment

All supported Network Observability DX NetOps Performance Management Data Aggregator releases

Cause

The /etc/DA.cfg file remains on the server. It holds the required installation details.

Resolution

When uninstalling the Data Aggregator normally the documented steps found in the Uninstall the Data Aggregator documentation topic work.

Sometimes files are left behind requiring manual removal before a new clean installation can proceed.

After following the documentation steps, if a new installation run acts like it's an upgrade, these additional steps should be taken. If the file or directory is no longer present, the uninstall script properly removed it.

  • Delete the (default path shown) /opt/IMDataAggregator directory
  • Delete the /var/.com.zerog.registry.xml file
  • Delete the /etc/DA.cfg file
