Issue/Introduction

In our setup we noticed, SQL Server transaction log extension alert data for the last one-month period and found the below observations. 

 

1. Out of total 264 transaction log extension alerts.  We also observed that for each transaction log extension alert we are also receiving an additional alert with dbname as _Total. We don’t have any database running with name _Total in any of the servers. If we exclude these _Total alerts, we are receiving only 132 transaction log alerts.

Resolution

"Profile Local, instance localhost, database _Total has expanded the transaction log 3 times in the interval (567 times since startup)" alert is regarding the transaction log size growing. DBA can increase the log size and monitor.

This is the alarm message triggering,

 log_file_growths_2 = Profile $profile, instance $instance, database $object has expanded the transaction log $interval_value times in the interval ($count times since startup)

_total is the Object
