VMware Data Services Manager for VCF

Issue/Introduction

  • When deploying the cluster mode database using VMware DSM (Data Services manager) may fail and stuck in inprogress.
  • Also, when trying to create new database, you may see resource warnings.

admission webhook "test.kb.io" denied the request: admission webhook. "postgresclusters.databases.dataservices.vmware.com" denied the request: vsphere namespace doesn't have required memory available.

Environment

  • VMware Data Services Manager 9.x
  • VMware Data Services Manager 2.2.x

Cause

  • The issue is seen when the namespace class for the VM class and Storage class configured with insufficient resources.

  • This can be validated based on UI with the error below and by reviewing the policy (VM class and Storage class) used for database deployment.

admission webhook "test.kb.io" denied the request: admission webhook. "postgresclusters.databases.dataservices.vmware.com" denied the request: vsphere namespace doesn't have required memory available.

Resolution

We need to change the policy / VM class and storage class settings with the required resources. Refer the below document for more information on how to define and edit the resources.
