The HCX Manager is inaccessible via HTTPS in HCX Cloud, but it can still be accessed using the VMC on AWS vCenter plugin

Issue/Introduction

• Cannot reach HCX site on SDDC
• Attempting to open HCX Manager UI (https://<hcx-ip-or-fqdn>:443)
• Error reported in the web browser: hcx.sddc-###-###-###-###.vmwarevmc.com took too long to respond.

Environment

VMC on AWS

Cause

• DNS lookup for hcx.sddc-###-###-###-###.vmwarevmc.com is resolving to the wrong IP address.
• HCX FQDN resolution address set in the VMC on AWS application is configured to use a private IP address without a private connection method configured to the HCX Manager private IP address 

Resolution

In VMC on AWS, you can configure the HCX Manager's FQDN to resolve either to a Public Internet IP address, or a Private internal IP address.
