• Validating the hostname of VCF Installer appliance shows the blank output

Environment

VCF 9.x

Cause

Missing/blank hostname may result in hostname resolution failure (UnknownHostException), preventing the SDDC Manager certificate configuration input from being generated.

Resolution

Set the desired hostname to the VCF Installer appliance.

1. SSH to VCF Installer appliance
2. Login with root credentials by typing "su" command
3. Set the hostname using below command to leave the hostname persistent across the reboots
   hostnamectl set-hostname <new_hostname>
