Issue/Introduction

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 virtual machine deployment through VMware vRealize Automation (vRA) fails with the following error:

No host compatible with the virtual machine

  • In vCenter Server, the deployment task fails during the power-on stage with the following error:

The attempted operation cannot be performed in the current state ("Powered off")

Then vRealize Automation automatically deletes the virtual machine.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

At the time of this release, RHEL 10 is not yet supported in vSphere 8.x. As a result, when vRA attempts to power on and customize the VM, vCenter cannot locate a compatible host that satisfies the unsupported guest OS and hardware requirements.
For more details, refer to: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 guest operating system option not available during Virtual Machine creation

Resolution

Select "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9" as the Guest OS Option in vRA.
