Issue/Introduction

This article explains how to change the FTT (Failures to Tolerate) setting in vSAN storage policies.

Environment

Resolution

To reconfigure FTT setting in vSAN storage policy:

  1. Log in to vSphere Client.

  2. Navigate to Policies and Profiles, then click VM Storage Policies.

  3. Select a storage policy and click Edit.

  4. On the Name and description page, click Next.

  5. On the policy structure page, click Next.

  6. On the vSAN page, reconfigure FTT(Failures to Tolerate) settings.

  7. On the Storage compatibility page, review the list of datastores under the COMPATIBLE and INCOMPATIBLE tabs and click Next.

  8. On the Review and finish page, review the policy settings, and click Finish.

  9. When VM Storage Policy in Use wizard pop-up, select whether Now or Manually later in reapply to object , then click Yes.

  10. If you select Now, vSAN storage policy reapply to object and begin to relayout and resync immediately.

  11. If you select Manually later, you need manually to reapply to object with the following steps.
    Right click VM > VM Policies > Reapply VM Storage Policy 
    Note: vSAN object resynchronization can be performed even when the virtual machine is powered on.
