Issue/Introduction

Running the Migration Assessment for vRealize Orchestrator (vRO) failed. Opening the details does show the error:

An error occurred while running the assessment for VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator.
com.fasterxml.jackson.core.exc.StreamConstraintsException: String length (20######) exceeds the maximum length (20000000)

Environment

Aria Automation 8.18.0

vRealize Orchestrator 7.6

Cause

A workflow contains a script with more then 20 million characters.

Resolution

Either remove the script or split the script into smaller scriptable tasks.

To identify the problematic workflow:

  1. Connect to one of the Aria Automation 8.18 appliances via SSH
  2. Tail the logs of the assessment-service, command:
    vracli logs --service assessment-service-app -f
  3. Reproduce the issue by re-adding the vRO 7.x endpoint and start the Assessment
  4. Once the error appears, hit CTRL+C to interrupt the log stream.
  5. Just before the error stack trace the log will show:
    c.v.assessment.common.CommonUtils - Scanning vRO workflow: /tmp/capture/###/192.168.#.#-###
Where the last id at the end of this log refers to the workflow id on vRO 7.x
