Issue/Introduction

In the Windows Guest Operating System, both the Virtual Disk Service (VDS) and Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) have stopped running.

Environment

• VMware ESXi 8.0

Cause

The Virtual Disk Service and Volume Shadow Copy Service are internal components of the Windows operating system.
This issue originates within the Guest OS itself and is not related to the ESXi host or virtualization layer.
