Best practices for a successful Installation of CA  Business Intelligence JasperReports® Server Patch

Environment:

CA PPM 14.2, 14.2 14.4

Summary:

To have a successful installation and configuration of Jaspersoft, it is mandatory to install the available Jaspersoft patch. At the time of writing this document the Jaspersoft patch available to download from CA Support site for PPM 14.2 is labelled as “Jaspersoft Server 5.6.1 for CA PPM 14.2 Cumulative Patch #4.7.0.1”.

For PPM 14.3 and 14.4 the Jaspersoft patch is as “CA Business Intelligence JasperReports® Server 6.1.0 for CA PPM Cumulative Patch #5.1.0.2 “. 

Instructions:

1.  It is recommended to run the install command in interactive mode unless you are doing Silent Installation. This way the installer prompts you for the parameters such as Tomcat path and webapp name.

         Run the command -  install interactive

        The regular install command is ideal for silent/unattended install scenarios, where the install.properties file need to be set up based on the parameters.

    2.    It is recommended to clear contents of the following directory paths on the Jaspersoft server so that caches are cleared at server side:

               $Jaspersoft_Tomcat\temp directory.

               $Jaspersoft_Tomcat\work\Catalina\localhost folder 

    3.    It is recommended to gather schema statistics on the Jaspersoft database at Estimate Percent -100% after installing the patch as it creates multiple indexes.
