Issue/Introduction

  • Not able to configure NSX on a newly added ESXi host.
  • Compute Manager connectivity shows as down.
  • The following error observed in NSX UI under Compute Manager:

  • Editing Compute Manager fails with the following error:
  • NSX managers has been recently re-deployed.
  • Ping from NSX Manager to vCenter FQDN is working fine.
  • Ping from NSX Manager to vCenter hostname is not working.

Cause

If you can ping vCenter FQDN but cannot ping vCenter hostname from NSX Manager, most likely the search domain is not configured.

Resolution

  • Verify if Search Domain is not configured. Login to NSX Manager over SSH as admin and run the following command:
    get search-domains
  • If you do not see any search domains configured, set the correct Search Domain with the following command while logged in to NSX Manager over SSH as Admin user:
    set search-domains <Search domain>

    Example:   set search-domains example.cloud
