Issue/Introduction

Discovered that the field type for a field was inadvertently changed, which caused issues with a 2E model.

Would like to determine when and how this change was made.

Is there any method to track changes at the field level?

Resolution

You can utilize the '8-Description' subfile option on the desired field within the 'DISPLAY FIELDS' screen to determine the latest date, time and user (audit information) of the modified field details.

This approach is similar to executing the "YDSPMDLOD OBJSGT(XXXX)" command, where XXXX represents the field's surrogate.

Regarding a comprehensive history of field changes, this direct functionality is unavailable within CA 2E.

To obtain a complete log, it would be necessary to implement one of the following approaches:

1.  Employ change management systems, such as PTC Implementer, or other third-party solutions (i.e. Turnover or Aldon).

2.  Implement IBM journaling on the CA 2E internal files YFLDDTARFP and YFLDDOMRFP

3.  Apply triggers to the CA 2E internal files YFLDDTARFP and YFLDDOMRFP
