Issue/Introduction

Users receive 'An unexpected error occurred with method.' message after attempting to export a project to Microsoft Project (MSP) for the very first time after the new MSP driver is installed. After clicking OK to this message, you may then also see the following error: 'SchedLink MFC Application has stopped working'.

 Steps to Reproduce:1. 

  1. Install the MSP New Driver 
  2. Log in to CA PPM 
  3. Go to any project, and Open in Scheduler > Microsoft Project 

Expected Result: The project opens in MSP without error. 
Actual Result: Project does not open in MSP, instead you receive 'An unexpected error occurred with method.' popup message. After clicking OK to this message, you may then also see the following error 'SchedLink MFC Application has stopped working'.

Environment

Applies to the MSP New Driver

Resolution

This issue is fixed in CA PPM 15.4 and higher.

Note that it best practice to open MSP after installing the Addin to insure that the ribbon was updated correctly, which prevents the issue from happening. 

Workaround: Either open MSP to make sure that the ribbon was updated correctly before exporting a project from CA PPM or click on OK on the error message, and then export the project from CA PPM again. The error message will only occur once. After the first time, it will not return
