Issue/Introduction

  • NSX Federation.
  • One Lm site goes down and it is restored.
  • Rtep connectivity between LMs is restored.
  • After Rtep connectivity is restored, VMs in the healthy site lose of access through BGP for 5 seconds.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

RCPM (Routing Control Plane Manager) disables redistribution when BGP neighbors come up in T0 (default 5s) to allow time to learn all routes before starting to attract traffic.
This redistribution is clearing the advertised networks and re-advertised after 5 seconds. On this interval the VMs under the healthy LMs will be isolated.

Resolution

This is a known issue impacting VMware NSX.
