In vCenter 8.0 and later, administrators may observe the following warning messages repeatedly appearing in the vpxd.log:
YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm:ss.###Z warning vpxd[####] [Originator@### sub=StatsRegistry opID=PollQuickStatsLoop-######] No managed dpus present; Skipping fetch for host: [vim.HostSystem:host-##,<ESXi name>]
These warnings are generated periodically for each ESXi host managed by vCenter.
Starting from vCenter Server 8.0, the vpxd process includes a background task that collects DPU-related statistics from all connected hosts.
If an ESXi host does not have any managed DPU devices, vCenter logs the above warning:
“No managed dpus present; Skipping fetch for host”
This message simply indicates that the host does not contain a DPU from which statistics can be gathered.
If the ESXi host does not include a DPU, these warnings are expected and can be safely ignored.
No action is required.
These warnings do not impact vCenter Server functionality or performance.
DPU statistics collection automatically skips non-DPU hosts.
If DPU hardware is later added to a host and properly detected by vCenter, the message will no longer appear.
