Issue/Introduction

The Datastores tab in the Protection Groups section of the VLSR UI indicates a Not Protected status.

Datastores that are not being replicated by the array are displayed under datastore group

Environment

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Cause

When you attach an ISO file or a HDD residing on a non-replicated datastore to a protected virtual machine, it displays these errors because VLSR groups the files of the protected virtual machine under one datastore group.

Resolution

Get the virtual machine names from the protection group and verify the following in vCenter inventory -

1. Is there an ISO file from a non-replicated datastore attached to the virtual machine

2. If the virtual machine is running on a snapshot taken after the ISO file or HDD was attached but isn't linked to an ISO file, verify that the snapshot can be safely deleted before removing it from the virtual machine.

This should clear the Not Protected warnings from the datastores in the protection groups.
