How to move an NSX Edge node from one vCenter to another

Issue/Introduction

• Edge nodes need to be moved to a different vCenter server
• Configuration will stay the same
• The NSX Manager has both vCenters registered

Environment

• VMware NSX
• VMware vCenter Server

Cause

Moving edge nodes between vCenters via cross vCenter vMotion or re-register can cause issues.  If you have already moved edges to the new vCenter and are getting alarms, refer to KB:  VM moref id alarms after NSX Edge cross-vCenter vMotion.

Additional Information

Edge nodes do not need to be in the same vCenter as the segments they are serving as long as the same Transport Zone is configured in both environments.
