When trying to run reports getting an internal error has occurred (2147023878)

Issue/Introduction

Problem:

When trying to run reports, view Service Domains Created, or view metrics created in a contract, I am getting an error on the UI: An internal error has occurred (2147023878). Error in t_log:

Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion.

Cause: 

It seems that Windows is trying to access a registry key that actually does not exist. This is usually caused due to an environmental change that causes issues within the Windows operating system.

Resolution:

An example of a trigger to such an error is when a certain patch was applied on the server without restarting it. Please restart the server and check if the issue resolved.
