Issue/Introduction

  • ESXi hosts are configured with a vusb interface in vCenter.
  • NSX is in use with an external servicing polling the NSX Manager for interface statistics using:
    GET /api/v1/transport-nodes/<nodeID>/network/interfaces/vusb0/stats
  • Entries similar to the below are observed in /var/log/syslog on the NSX Manager:
    NSX 77794 SYSTEM [nsx@6876 audit="true" comp="nsx-manager" level="INFO" subcomp="manager"] UserName:'<username>' ModuleName:'common-services' Operation:'GET@/api/v1/transport-nodes/########-####-####-####-############/network/interfaces/vusb0/stats' Operation status: 'failure' Error: The requested object : Provided interface id vusb0 in the request is invalid could not be found. Object identifiers are case sensitive.
  • There is no impact associated with the behavior.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

NSX does not currently support statistic retrieval for an interface of type vusb. 

Resolution

This is a known issue impacting VMware NSX.

 

Workaround

In some instances the operational failures could be interpreted as failed logins, if this is being used as a criteria for security monitoring, please whitelist this log entry.
