Issue/Introduction

  • Navigating from vCenter UI > vCenter inventory object > Configure > vSAN section > Internet Connectivity tab, the page shows a red banner with the error:

"Unable to extract requested data. Check vSphere Client logs for details."

  • Unable to set the proxy config in the vSAN Internet connectivity section
  • Clicking on the "Edit" button doesn't do anything
  • There are no vSAN-enabled clusters within the environment

Resolution

This is by designed if there are no vSAN-enabled clusters within the vCenter environment.

In order to edit the vSAN Internet Connectivity section, there must be at least one vSAN-enabled cluster and the Host.Inventory.EditCluster privilege must be assigned to the user in order to see and edit the Internet Connectivity settings.
