SSH into VMware Cloud Director appliance fails with account locked

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to SSH as root into a VMware Cloud Director appliance the login fails with:
Account locked due to # failed logins
with # being the number of failed attempts.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

The account has been locked by failed logins. This could be from a service account or repeated attempts with the incorrect password.

Resolution

Please follow Resetting root password in VMware Cloud Director to resolve the issue.
