Issue/Introduction
During the vCenter Server patching activity, multiple hosts across different clusters reported a 'vSphere HA host status' alert.
The internal monitoring system generated alerts for the following events. vSphere HA agent on <Esxi-Host> in cluster <Cluster-Name> on <Datacenter-Name> is enabled. vSphere HA agent on <Esxi-Host> connected to the vSphere HA master on <Esxi-Host>. vSphere HA agent on this host is enabled. Alarm 'vSphere HA host status' on <Esxi-Host> changed from Red to Green. vSphere HA agent on <Esxi-Host> in cluster <Cluster-Name> in datacenter <Datacenter-Name> is healthy. Possible Causes: vSphere HA reports this event when the vSphere HA agent on the host is either a master or a slave that is connected to the master over the management network.
Environment
VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.x
Cause
Patching or upgrading vCenter Server restarts several critical services, including the vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM). When these services restart, vCenter may attempt to redeploy or reconfigure the vSphere HA (FDM) agent on connected ESXi hosts to align with the updated version. During this process, temporary communication interruptions between vCenter Server, ESXi hosts can occur, resulting in transient “vSphere HA host status” alerts.
Resolution
No manual intervention is required and these events can be safely ignored, as these alerts are transient and occur due to temporary communication interruptions during the vCenter patching process. Once the vCenter Server services are fully operational and communication with the ESXi hosts is restored, the “vSphere HA host status” alerts automatically clear.
