Issue/Introduction

This problem occurs when a DSM appliance has been upgraded to version 9.0.1, and its historical upgrade path included version 2.1.0.

In this specific scenario, the release processing operation will fail, and consequently, the DSM 9.0.1 Data Service bundle will not be available for enablement within the UI.

Symptoms:

1. The release processing operation is marked as failed.

2. The DSM 9.0.1 Data Service version is not displayed for enablement within the Data Services tabs of the DSM User Interface.

Environment

VMware Data Services Manager 9.0.1

Resolution

Perform the following steps to resolve this issue:

            1. Connect to the DSM appliance via SSH.
            2. Delete the manifest file by running the following command:

rm /data/bundles/manifests/2.1.0-release.json

            3. Log in to the DSM UI with a DSM Administrator role.
            4. Navigate to the left-hand navigation pane and select System Tab and click on "check for upgrade" link . This action will initiate the release processing task, which should now complete successfully.
            5. Monitor the Upgrades tab until both the Data Plane Bundle and Data Service Bundle show a 'Ready' state. This entire process may take few minutes.
            6. Once both bundles are ready, the DSM 9.0.1 Data Service version will be available for enablement in the respective Data Services tabs.
