Failed to clear property: com.vmware.common.host.volatile.overlay.status on ESXi host

Issue/Introduction

• In the vmkernel logs of the host we see the error similar to:

  Failed to clear property: com.vmware.common.host.volatile.overlay.status

• You are using ESXi 8.0 U3 and NSX 4.2.3.1

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

Stale entries on the DVS while unconfiguring NSX might cause issue while preparing the host again.

Resolution

1.Uninstall NSX from the problematic host.

2. Remove the NSX from the DVS from vSphere to clear any stale entries.

3. Reboot the host. 

4. Add the host again to the DVS.

5. Configure NSX on the host from the NSX UI with the correct uplink profile.
