Issue/Introduction

Having trouble downloading binaries.

When attempting to download the VCF Operations 9.0.1 upgrade patch, the lifecycle task fails with the following error:

LCMCOMMON92001  Exception encountered when downloading the binary at com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.drivers.commonplugin.task.DownloadFromBroadcomDepot.execute(DownloadFromBroadcomDepot.java:237)    at com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.platform.automata.service.Task.retry(Task.java:158)    at com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.automata.core.TaskThread.run(TaskThread.java:60)    at java.base/java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(Unknown Source)    at java.base/java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(Unknown Source)    at java.base/java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0.0

VCF Fleet Manager 9.0.0

Cause

This issue usually arises when the checksum of the downloaded bundle file doesn't align with any of the supported product versions recognized by VCF Fleet Manager, indicating an incompatibility between the bundle and the version of VCF Fleet Manager in use.

Resolution

Upgrade Fleet Manager to release 9.0.1.

  1. Login to VCF Operations user interface.
  2. Navigate to Fleet Management > Lifecycle > VCF Management > Settings > System Patches
  3. Click on CREATE SNAPSHOT to create a new snapshot prior to performing the path upgrade.
  4. Once completed, return to System Patches and click NEW PATCH
  5. Proceed to upgrade Fleet Manager to 9.0.1
  6. Once completed, navigate to the Binary Management tab and download VCF Operations 9.0.1.

Note:  Do not reboot Fleet Manager once upgrade is completed.  There is a known issue with certificate that causes Fleet Manager to fail connecting to VCF Operations upon a reboot. Fix is tentatively planned in future release. Release version and date is subject to change.
