Issue/Introduction

  • The state of a custom resource are refreshed every ~5 minutes if the resource is actively accessed in order to keep its properties up to date
  • How can this timer be altered to update the resource more or less frequently?

Environment

  • VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Resolution

Aria Automation works in an asynchronous manner between its many services. Some timers in the system are not configurable, so as to maintain predictable system behaviour.

The custom resource "read action" schedule is not configurable:

  • If the resource is part of a deployment and user is accessing the deployment/their resources, read calls will be triggered every ~5 mins to get latest data.
  • When the blueprint service detects low activity on the resource it starts polling over several hours instead.

There is a feature request created for the ability to configure this update timer. If you are interested in this, please contact Broadcom Support referencing this article number (416603)
