Issue/Introduction

After enabling additional logging in CA Service Desk Manager (SDM) to monitor integrations, the pdm_tomcat.log file size has increased significantly — reaching up to 50 MB.
We need to configure the pdm_tomcat.log settings to control how large each log file can grow and how many rotated log files are retained, either by file size or by date rotation.

Environment

Release: CA Servicedesk Manager 17.X.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to enable and control log file rollover for the pdm_tomcat.log file:

Step 1: Define or Update the NX Variable:
Add or update the following NX variable to specify the maximum log file size (in bytes):
@NX_LOGFILE_LIMIT=3000000
(This parameter defines the size limit for each log file before a rollover occurs.)

Step 2: Recycle CA Service Desk Manager Services
After updating the NX variable, recycle all SDM services to apply the changes.

Additional Information

  • The rollover log files will become visible only after the SDM services have been recycled.

  • Frequent service restarts are not recommended, as they may impact system availability.
