Issue/Introduction

Running Policy Server on RedHat OS, the rngd services use 100% of the CPU.

Resolution

This issue is not related to the Policy Server.

As other software on the OS, the Policy Server needs randomization, which the rngd demon provides.

To work fine, the rngd services need kernel functionalities, and it might rely on some BIOS features (1).

Sometimes, just restarting the rngd demon solved the issue (1).

Also, the way the demon is started might cause this issue (2).

Get in touch with RedHat support to get this solved in case even a restart of the rngd demon doesn't solve the issue, or to get the root cause analysis.
