Issue/Introduction

  • Overview of feature introductions per VDS/DVS version

  • Definitions:

    • VDS: Virtual Distributed Switch, also called proxy switch on ESXi host

    • Standard vSwitch: virtual switch on ESXi host, has less options than distributed switch, but no need for having a vCenter to manage.

  • In VC 9.0, the supported DVS (Distributed Virtual Switch) in 9.0 will be limited to 8.0.x and 9.0.0. The DVS 7.0.x will not be supported any more in 9.0.
