Issue/Introduction

While executing Protection Group snapshots, it fails on cluster VMs which are sharing drives with the following error in UI:
“Cannot complete the operation. See the event log for details. The protected entity contains both protected and unprotected disks”

/var/log/vmware/snapservice/snap-service.log has entries similar to:

"The protected entity contains both protected and unprotected disks"

Environment

vSAN Data Protection 9.x
VCF 9.x
VSAN ESA

Resolution

vSAN DP currently does not support multi-VM consistency or shared VMDKs, which are a requirement for cluster VMs.
As of now, VCF does not provide support for clustered VMs in vSAN Data Protection.
