Issue/Introduction

During cross vCenter migrations, adding the same datastore to multiple vCenter's can lead to unexpected behavior, and having Storage DRS enabled on both sides can further create conflicts.

Environment

6.7 U3

8.0 U3

Resolution

  1. Add the same datastore to both the source and destination vCenter's for the required activity.

  2. Keep Storage DRS disabled on both vCenter's while the datastore is being shared.

  3. Once all tasks are completed and the datastore is no longer needed on the source side, remove it from the source vCenter.

  4. After that, enable Storage DRS on the new vCenter 8 to ensure proper load balancing and storage management. This approach avoids conflicts and ensures smooth operation of Storage DRS.
