Guest metric "Total Guest File System Free (GB)" is missing for some virtual machines In Aria Operations

Issue/Introduction

When navigating to the metric view:

  1. Log in to Aria Operations.

  2. Go to Inventory.

  3. Expand the vCenter Server in the right pane.

  4. Select the Virtual Machine.

  5. Click the Metrics tab.

  6. Expand Metrics → Guest File System.

You may observe that the metric "Total Guest File System Free (GB)" is not listed for certain VMs.

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the Guest File System metric is not enabled in the assigned policy within Aria Operations.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, enable the missing metric in the policy configuration.

Steps:

  1. Log in to the Aria Operations UI.

  2. Navigate to Operations > Configuration > Policy Definition.

  3. Select the policy assigned to the affected virtual machines.

  4. Click Edit Policy.

  5. Go to the Metrics and Properties section.

  6. Under Select Object Type, choose Virtual Machine.

  7. Expand Metrics > Guest File System.

  8. Activate the metric "Total Guest File System Free (GB)".

  9. Save the policy configuration.



    After enabling the metric in the policy, the "Total Guest File System Free (GB)" metric will appear under Guest File System for the affected virtual machines.
