Devices are in collection but not Universe

Issue/Introduction

We have this issue where devices will somehow be in the CAPC “Global Collection” DefaultDomain, but not reside in a universe with nothing in their TopologyModelNameString.

Environment

Dx NetOps Performance Management any version

Dx NetOps Spectrum any version

Cause

Device is 'Removed' instead of 'Deleted'

Resolution

If you 'Remove' a device from Spectrum you are not deleting it.  Instead, you are just removing it from the view, causing confusion between wat is actually modeled in the Universe vs the Collection

 

Instead 'Delete' the device from the Universe.  Or 'Remove' the device from the collection, and then delete from the universe so that it is completely removed from the database
