NSX Edge VM status is displayed "Disabled" in vSphere Client

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

vCenter is unable to load the Edge VM's .vmx configuration file, and the log shows VM_STATE_INVALID_CONFIG.

YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS ############ Hostd 188550575 - [Originator@6876 sub="Vmsvc.vm:/vmfs/volumes/vsan:############/############/edge-vm-name.vmx" opID="host-#:#:############" sid=######## user=vpxuser tid="#########"] LoadFromConfig message: Unable to load configuration file '/vmfs/volumes/vsan:############/############/edge-vm-name.vmx'.

Resolution

Follow Broadcom official document to replace the affected NSX Edge transport node.

Use the NSX Manager UI:

Use the NSX Manager API:

Important: If you are using the cluster for edge nodes, make sure the other edge nodes are operating normally. Otherwise, the traffic through the edge may be disrupted.
