Issue/Introduction

In the menu “Fleet Management > Passwords > VCF Management”, the password for the admin@local account for the “Fleet Management” component appears as “disconnected.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation Fleet Management 9.X

Resolution

  1. Snapshots are required of the VMware Cloud Foundation Fleet Management  appliance as per KB  Managing snapshots in vSphere Web Client
  2. SSH to the VMware Cloud Foundation Fleet Management appliance as root and run the below command to enable password reset: 
    touch /var/lib/vrlcm/ENABLE_PWD_RETRIEVAL
  3. To reset the password run the following command:  
    /opt/vmware/share/vami/vami-vlcm-passwd-reset
  4. Once password is set,  delete the file by running this command:  
    rm /var/lib/vrlcm/ENABLE_PWD_RETRIEVAL
  5. Remediate the password as per documentation Remediate Passwords for VMware Cloud Foundation Components
  6. Please allow for 24 hour period for the password to change status from disconnected to active
