vLCM cluster host installation fails with error "Timeout occured while waiting for vLCM remediation task"

Issue/Introduction

• vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) host installation or remediation consistently fails at the 15% mark when attempting to prepare an ESXi host for NSX networking. 
• vCenter displays  "host is not in compliance" message for the affected ESXi host.
• NSX manager reports error : Error: Timeout occured while waiting for vLCM remediation task <host-uuid> com.vmware.esx.settings.clusters.software.solutions.nsx.nsx_internal to complete:

Cause

The issue is caused by vLCM detecting a mismatch between the Host's current image and the desired image configured in vLCM.

Resolution

• As a workaround, if you wish to remove vLCM - follow KB 398231.
• To fix the mismatch between ESXi and vLCM image - follow KB 380447
