How to find virtual machine UUID

Issue/Introduction

Find the UUID of virtual machine from the vSphere Client.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.0
VMware vCenter Server 8.0

Resolution

Follow these steps in the vSphere Client to display and export VM UUIDs:

  1. Log in to the vSphere Client.
  2. Select the vCenter Server object in the left inventory pane.
  3. Show the "VMs" tab.
  4. Click "Manage Columns" and enable the UUID column.
  5. View each VM’s UUID in the list.
  6. Export the VM list as CSV (use the "Export " button) if required for comparison.
