Issue/Introduction

  • The vCenter web client is not accessible, while SSH access to the vCenter is available.
  • In certain scenarios, it is necessary to access the ESXi host client where a VM resides to perform operations such as taking snapshots or viewing and modifying configuration.
  • In environments with multiple ESXi hosts, manually logging into each host to identify where a VM is running is impractical and inefficient.
  • Therefore, the steps in this article can be used to quickly identify the ESXi host on which a VM resides by querying the vCenter database (VCDB).

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.x
