NSX-T Not Creating the Standard Virtual NIC on ESXi Host

Issue/Introduction

• NSX is used for antivirus integration only.
• When a host was added to the cluster , the required Virtual standard Switch (vmservice-vswitch) was not created. 
• This can be confirmed in the UI through the vSphere client:

1. 1. Navigate to Hosts and Clusters in the left-hand menu.
   2. Click on the specific ESXi host you want to view.
   3. Select the Configure tab.
   4. Under the "Networking" section, click on Virtual Switches. Here you will see a list of all standard switches on that host. 

• The service deployment is in a down state
  
  
  
• Click resolve to see the error
  

 

Environment

VMware NSX 

Cause

The service insertion service was not getting deployed on the host.  

Resolution

 Engage Service vendor to understand why the service was not deploying.
