"Reboot Required" message appears in the vCenter Server UI after performing esxcli command with dry-run option when patching an ESXi host.

Issue/Introduction

The "Reboot Required" message is displayed on the ESXi host after performing esxcli command with dry-run option when patching an ESXi host.

Environment

VMware ESXi 7.x

Cause

Although a reboot is not necessary after performing esxcli command with dry-run option when patching an ESXi host, an internal flag is set, which results in the "Reboot Required" message being displayed on the UI.

Resolution

This issue is resolved on VMware ESXi 7.0 Update 2.

Once this issue is occurred, reboot the ESXi host to remove this message.
