Error: "Cluster upgrade request failed. (Error: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'kind'))" when upgrading a Kubernetes cluster

Issue/Introduction

• Unable to upgrade a Kubernetes cluster, getting above error in Kubernetes Container Clusters > Kubernetes Clusters UI:
  • "Cluster upgrade request failed. (Error: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'kind'))"
• Multiple Kubectl commands get errors the server is currently unable to handle the request:
  • E1009 12:47:18.970486 memcache.go:287 couldn't get resource list for data.packaging.carvel.dev/v1alpha1: the server is currently unable to handle the request

Environment

• VMware Cloud Director 10.6
• Container Service Extension 4.2.2

Cause

The issue is caused due to a "null" entry in the capiYaml section of the Kubernetes cluster.

To retrieve the capiYaml of a cluster, use API Explorer within VCD and run the following API:
Get Defined Entity | VMware Cloud Director OpenAPI
