Scheduled reports are not getting sent to e-mail via SMTP

Issue/Introduction

Scheduled reports are being generated but some/many are not sent to the SMTP server.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

This behavior can be due to resource contention caused by multiple heavy reports with numerous views being generated and pushed via SMTP simultaneously. The engineering team also noted that cloud proxy resources are not related to report generation/sending and will always show full memory consumption.

Resolution

• Check the sizing of Aria Operations deployment to ensure there are no resource contingency.
• It is subjective to increase the roll-up interval in selected views wherever appropriate.
• Simulate report schedules for multiple required objects, by scheduling them more frequently but spacing them out by several minutes to avoid generating and sending out emails all at one go. This approach significantly improved report delivery.
