vCenter Server domain users are unable to log in

Issue/Introduction

Domain users and service accounts are not able to connect to the vCenter Server. They get an error message in the GUI:

• Error: The service account does not have permission on the vCenter Server.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x

Cause

Misconfigured Identity Sources. There was a missing alias in the identity sources configuration

Resolution

The Identity sources were configured with aliases added to the configuration. If the Identity Source has an alias, ensure to include the alias in the configuration.
